Premier Classe came into existance in 2001, hooking its only two coaches to the Transkaroo Tourist service running between Johannesburg and Cape Town.
By 2006 the demand from passengers was such that in May of that year Premier Classe launched its full train set running between Johannesburg and Cape Town. With that, the frequency and capacity also increased. Where Premier Classe originally carried 28 passengers, it could now accommodate 84 passengers. In November 2007 a refurbished Premier Classe set joined the service, with added features like dining/lounge cars, a conference coach and a smoking lounge, more spacious compartments and upgraded bathrooms.
Enjoy the best African cuisine, prepared by our gourmet chefs, while sipping on the best South African wines. Our five-course dinners and delectable High Teas are served in the luxury of the air-conditioned Dining Car, and is complemented by the passing scenery. A special children’s menu is available on request for younger guests travelling with us.
Unwind with a cocktail or High Tea in the Lounge Car and Bar, or if work is on your mind, make use of Premier Classe’s conference facility, with ample room for up to 20 delegates, ensuring a conference experience to remember.
As an added convenience, Premier Classe enables you to carry on your journey in the comfort of your own vehicle with our Car Transportation service. The specially designed vehicle carriage can accommodate up to eight cars. (Currently only available on the Johannesburg/Cape Town routes.)
Whether you are a single traveler, couple or family, our cabins offer complete privacy. View the ever-changing scenery by day and have the cabin transform into a bedroom with all the comforts of home by night. All cabins are supplied with bathrobes and slippers, soft towels and crisp linen to ensure you enjoy a good nights rest.
